Marine Yacht Club Cruise Out
EYC’s June cruise will take us back to the popular Marin Yacht Club. The warm tranquil setting in Marin made for a great cruise last year, so the Vickers are hosting a repeat event this summer.
The Marin Yacht Club is very welcoming, and they will again make all facilities available to our cruising fleet, including their recreation facility, pool, tennis & bocce ball courts, horseshoe pit, and their beautiful lawn and clubhouse. With their private parking area, this is also a great location for our land cruisers to drive into, and they can even accommodate recreational vehicles that stay overnight. The concrete slips are large, which makes docking pretty straight forward. All electrical services and water are available.
The tentative agenda is:
Friday Night (June 8): No boats (including those with seven-foot keels) reported having any problems with the San Rafael Channel depths last year. This year the tides might argue for either a morning or mid-to-late afternoon arrival if you have a deep keel, but we'll leave the navigating up to each skipper. Upon your arrival enjoy the MYC grounds, play Bocce, go for a swim, or just relax. The club will be open Friday night for dinner with drinks. Please include in your reply if you will attend dinner on Friday night; this will help MYC’s kitchen plan accordingly. The cost for dinner will be approximately $30 per person, payable to the club.
Saturday (June 9): The morning and early afternoon are unscheduled. Enjoy the club facilities, or walk into historic San Rafael. We will schedule some bocce tournaments and horseshoe games, with appropriate drinks and appetizers, starting at 3pm on the lawn, and this will roll into our outdoor BBQ around 6pm.
Sunday (June 10): We will gather somewhat early at 8:30 for breakfast on the docks, and your cruise leaders will try to have the FIZZY CART in full operation. We anticipate that most people will want to cast off around 10 to catch the high tide in the channel.
To sign up, email Jim Vickers (Joyride47@gmail.com) with the name of your boat (or land yacht) including its length, beam, and draft, the number your party, your arrival date, and whether you intend to join us for the Friday Dinner or Saturday BBQ.
Costs: The Marin Yacht Club harbor gives us the first night of berthing for free, but does charge one dollar per foot for subsequent nights. Friday’s dinner is as described above, and cruisers will also be charged to cover the cost of Saturday’s BBQ.
We look forward to seeing you in Marin!
