California Offshore Race Week & Coastal Cup
May 26th through June 2nd
The CA Offshore Race Week returns in 2018 in a similar manner to last year. The California coast will connect the Spinnaker Cup, Coastal Cup, and SoCal 300 to send race boats down from San Francisco to San Diego the week surrounding Memorial Day weekend. The Notice of Race is posted, and online registration is open for the CA Offshore Race Week, May 26 - June 2, 2018. Register for one, two or all three of the coastal races.
California Offshore Race Week starts on Saturday, May 26 in San Francisco Bay and sends the racers out under the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. From there the fleet will make their way 88nm to the port city of Monterey for a day long layover at the newly remodeled Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club (MPYC) to get rested and ready for the sled ride to Santa Barbara. MPYC will host the competitors and their guests with a Saturday night (Sunday Morning) reception of warm soup and chili followed by MPYC’s famous breakfast burrito buffet introduced by our galley chair (and KSBW Anchorman) Dan Green! Merchandise will be available for sale at the clubhouse all day with a reception and awards to follow at 6:00 pm. Competitors and guests are encouraged to stay for special crew drinks and a fabulous buffet dinner available at the MPYC clubhouse Sunday afternoon and running into the evening. Breakfast service and To-Go sandwich orders will also be taken and available for competitors the following morning prior to departure on their next leg of the Coastal Cup where on Monday, May 28th, the Coastal Cup starts in Monterey Bay and runs 200nm around Point Conception and into Santa Barbara. A multi-day layover in Santa Barbara will allow racers to repair damage and experience the local scene and all that this beautiful city has to offer. Santa Barbara Yacht Club will be hosting shore side parties and all the racers are invited to a ‘just for fun’ in-port race on Wednesday afternoon, which will see the offshore crews link up with the local Beercan racers who will also be on the water that day. The final leg starts on Thursday, May 31st with the SoCal 300 sending the fleet through the Channel Islands on their way to San Diego, a total trip of 254nm. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at San Diego Yacht Club. California Offshore Race Week has been endorsed by Offshore Racing Association as the "California Offshore Championship", hence the winner will receive the trophy and title of the 2018 California Offshore Champion.
