Jack Frosts 2011/20112
Sailing Dates: 11/19/11, 01/21/12, 02/25/12, 03/24/12
The spring weather did not cooperate for the last race day of Encinal Yacht club’s Jack Frost series on Saturday March 24th. With a midday 3.3 maximum flood, augmented by steady drizzly rain and under 2 knots of breeze , the race was postponed, hoping for more breeze to fill in. When the wind had not increased by one o’clock the races were abandoned. Trophies for the series were awarded that afternoon at Encinal Yacht club based on the first six races with one throw out.
The Jack Frost Midwinters give folks the opportunity to race a leisurely set of races during the winter months. The races are held in the central bay, usually between Treasure Island and Alcatraz Island. Midwinter racing is generally very mild, although an occasional front can sneak in making the racing a bit more intense. The series is popular with our members, and non-members, giving them a chance to get out on the water during the winter and keep their boat in sailing form and sailing skills intact.
